I wanna PK!

Post by Zippy Zion »

This is kinda a "what if" idea.

Wouldn't the game be a whole lot cooler if you could PK and take peoples items instead of trading. Ya know like someone has a Dark History and you've been Data Draining those damn Pheonix Queens for hours trying to get one. You could just pop them a data drain and grab it when they die.

^_^;;; Just an Idea

...well

Post by NobleAlmasy »

That would take away a very good characteristic from the game, think about it you have to fight to earn stuff that is needed to trade? Mugging would be cool but think how you would feel if they made a
.Hack//"The World" and you got mugged by another user (and they stole your best weapon). But something else you could do is suggest they make it possible to Mug enemies ^_^

Good point.

However Its my personal oppinion that if they came out with a .hack//"The World" there should be a PK element to the game... if not to take items then just to improve skills and stuff.

Besides killing monsters and taking items is what you do anyways...

Well, if they made it so you could PK in the non-online games, it would ruin the story. You're a nice guy in the game.

As for PKing in the online (if there is going to be one), i'm all for it.

In the online game (if they make it), there would more than likely be the ability to PK someone... all you'd do is consider them a normal enemy and attack...

PKing can be fun once and a while, but it has it's major downfalls... ya'd get hated quickly...

yea, its a common courtisy not to pk in a mmorpg, but it does happen... i played diablo for a while, occasionally it would be fun to fight one of my friends, then whoever won would gove back the loosers stuff... most of the time... but most ppl realize the bad side of being a pker and done do it...

wow, this whole thing with talking about pking is really weird cause my girlfriends friends gave her the nickname PK, but its most often used a pretty kitty instead of player killer... anyway, its just weird to talk about pk and not be talking about her since i haven used it in any other way since i stopped playing diable about a year and a half ago...

I think it would be nice at least, if the would make PvP (Player vs. Player) events, like they are in Ragnarok for example. It would be very interesting, if there's a PK-possibility. But not that it's the primary target of the game. It's a crime in the game "as well as in real life". Then there also would be some kind of "criminal scene" in the game, I guess that could be cool if doesn't get to excessive.

.... See, I was in both cities that the PvP event took place in on iRO, and I must admit, the imagery of .hack characters in something like that has me in TEARS from laughing.

Admittedly, the Lutie PvP where items and experience were lost was a lot more interesting and more of a duel-type situation, where the sunny town of Alberta was more like a pre-apocolyptic warzone, complete with gangs, machine guns, and explosions.

I wonder if PvP on The World would be something with level caps, so high levels can't just go kill n00bs, but only those somewhere around their level >.>

i dont think that, if they did make it, there should be any kind of limit for pking... "the world" is supposed to be like a real world, admitidly with soem extras, but there are the same basic principals programmed into it... for example, gravity... so, if you can hurt people in real life you should be able to hurt people in realy life... most people dont hurt people in real life because we think it is wrong (who really decides whats right and wrong though), and since we think its wrong we have created ways a citizens of this world to prevent it... so wouldnt it make more sense to not have limits like that in "the world"... if people have a problem with pking, maybe they will band together and form something like the crimson knights to prevent it... it will not be their job, they will not recieve anything for doing it, the will do it because they feel that it is their duty to do so... it is not the job of the paid system programmers and adninistrator (and by admid i mean the ppl that maintain the servers and make sure they wouk and stuff) to control the course of action the players take, that is why it is a game... the players ,make their own choices and decisions and interact, like in real life... the only thing that the producer of the game should keep an eye on is the major hackers... people that hack with malicious intent (not people that use simple mods and such)... realism whould have the ability to make or break this game...

personaly back when i played every quest and diablo2 i was a PKerKer well ok only on Diablo... but i still did it and im proud.... i would go around with a lvl9 hackes character... it was cool... but i digress... to the point of this thread. i think that if the world came out and we were all online playing it there would be PKers, there always are, but there would be a lvl cap, like you cant PK a player under lvl5, and i would think some of your carried items would drop and you would just respawn at the chaos gate leaving behind 47 sprite ocorenas or something. but your equiped equipment would be safe.

sorry if this is incoherant and poorly spelled i and typing fast so i can go eat.

PK means Player Killing, it is a term used in MMORPG when a PC kills another PC.

BTW, I think "The World" is staying true to the Japanese design philosophy on the MMORPG. I played AnarchyOnline, Earth And Beyond, and numerous MUD's and the trend for those have been that you have a single, gigantic, contiguous world in which pc's are allowed free travel toward all directions (North East, West, and South). However, PSO (another great game) allows you to team with a small group of people to play in limited map. "The World" has system to allow small party to be left alone to go about their business (by having word combo system) rather than competing for MOB kills with another party. I hated when that happened in AO back in the days!!! GAH! Sorry about that.
